Peer Support Meetings

HOPE hosts monthly peer support meetings where individuals and families affected by traumatic bereavement can come together in a safe, wrap around supported, and understanding space. When you feel ready, you’re welcome to share your story, talk about your loved one, and express your feelings with others who truly understand. These gatherings are free of judgment and full of compassion—offering comfort, connection, and hope. Both adults and children are welcome.

This film brings together the voices of families who have experienced the unimaginable—losing a loved one in a road traffic collision, fire, or drowning. In their own words, they share how HOPE’s peer support groups became a lifeline. A place where they could speak freely, cry openly, and be truly understood. These groups have offered more than support—they’ve offered connection, compassion, and the strength to keep going. Through shared stories and gentle solidarity, families have found comfort in knowing they are not alone.

Crafting in Memory

At HOPE, we offer gentle crafting sessions where families can come together to remember their loved ones in a creative and meaningful way. These sessions provide a calm, supportive space to express grief, share memories, and create something personal—whether it’s a memory jar, a decorated candle, or a keepsake to take home. For both children and adults, crafting can be a healing way to honour those we’ve lost while connecting with others who understand.

Reading with Oliver

At HOPE, we offer a gentle and comforting reading experience where children can read aloud to Oliver, our friendly therapy dog. These sessions create a calm, nonjudgmental space that helps children feel safe, build confidence, and express their emotions through storytelling. Oliver’s quiet presence offers comfort and companionship, making it easier for children to relax, open up, and find moments of joy and connection during difficult times.
